Dernier opus avec Dio au micro. Certains titres sont incontournables: Long live rock n roll, gates of Babylon, Kill the king et Rainbow eyes.. Le reste est un cran en dessous donc une moins bonne réussite que Rising. Ceci dit il reste indispensable à tout fan qui se respecte. Gates of Babylon est absolument génial. Mais il semble que la collaboration Blackmore Dio est atteint ses limites. Ritchie s'étant orienté vers 1 style + FM qui ne devait pas convenir à Dio et à son timbre de voix. Bref le style hard médiéval baroque prend fin sur cette galette. pour la suite Ritchie changera de style mais c'est 1 autre histoire.
